Abstract
Our present paper focuses on the investigation of analysis of the effective-index photonic crystal fiber (PCF) using the step-index optical fiber approach. Thus, the aim of the work is the definition of the effective radius of the PCF core region which provides an equivalent description of the transverse waveguiding modes of real PCF with step-index approach. The effective-index holey fiber and its step-index fiber analog are also considered.
