Abstract :
Bilateral filtering algorithm is widely used in image processing. The original bilateral filtering algorithm needs the user to select the filtering parameters to obtain a good result. Bad parameters will result in bad filtering result. In this paper, we proposed a parameter adaptive algorithm for bilateral filtering to solve this problem. The experimental results show that our algorithm can select the filtering parameters adaptively to obtain good results. Meanwhile, the new algorithm is applied to edge detection. Experimental results show the new method which based on the adaptive bilateral filtering outperforms the original Canny edge detection. Our approach can effectively remove the image noises and detect the actual edges.
