Abstract :
To achieve all the design specifications (transient stability, steady state stability, tracking and disturbance rejection property) simultaneously there is a need for two-parameter control. In this paper to improve the damping characteristics of a synchronous generator under disturbance conditions a two parameter controller is utilized in place of single parameter controllers. In power system the operating conditions change frequently. In view of this if the controllers are designed to tune their parameters automatically with changing operating conditions the system becomes robust. In this paper we implement a two parameter controller for the single machine infinite bus system with self tuning capability using ANN and study through simulations the effectiveness of the controller.
