Abstract
The paper deals with the realisation of an operational processing scheme to detect and classify ships in ERS1/2 SAR images, and estimate their direction and velocity. This is based on the identification and analysis of the ship wakes that are strictly related to the ship motion and on the number and orientation of the bright pixels corresponding to the ship
