  • Abstract
In summary we report the first demonstration of all-optical time-division demultiplexing and spatial routing in semiconductor microring resonators. The pump-probe switching scheme was accomplished via TPA process in the GaAs/Al-GaAs ring waveguide with fast surface recombination time. We expect that with the use of better absorption scheme and choice of waveguide materials with stronger nonlinearity such as InP, the switching power can be further reduced and the switching speed made to approach the lifetime of the microring itself. These devices have potential applications in OTDM communication systems both as MUX/DEMUX and as optical packet routers.
