Abstract
Electrical machines have been widely used for many applications, ranging from electric and hybrid electric vehicles, renewable energy including wind power generators, more electric aircrafts, industrial drives, automations, to domestic appliances etc. This paper overviews the recent developments in innovative electrical machines, with particular emphasis on recent advances in doubly salient switched flux machines and magnetically geared machines. Their unique relationships will be systematically revealed, resulting in recent development of a new class of magnetically geared switched flux machines, i.e. partitioned stator switched flux machines, which will be illustrated by examples.
