Abstract :
Recently, The Geographic Information System (GIS) technology has been widely used in the field of meteorology research. Meanwhile, the diverse meteorological data formats have brought challenges for data sharing, exchange and integration. We carried out a depth study on this issue, and developed a data engine for meteorological data which based on GDB-CLI (Geospatial Database Call-Level Interface) to solve this problem. We select BUFR (Binary Universal Form for the Representation of meteorological data) as an example to verify the research results. The data engine allows us to use a unified interface access meteorological data from GIS platform without relying on the specific data formats, which makes meteorological data integration easily between different GIS platforms.
