Abstract
The word “e-government” has been initially used by the United States as early as 1993 and the flux of e-government portals has been witnessed worldwide. The formal implementation of e-government project in the Republic of the Union Myanmar was started soon after the promulgation of the Computer Science Development Law (CSDL) in the year 1996. This study extracts the minimally necessary criteria and factors for the evaluation of e-government portals of the various ministries of the Union government as well as the respective governments at all levels in Myanmar. In addition, the study builds an AHP-based Evaluation Model for E-Government Portals (AEMPEG). The proposed AHP model will be applicable for other developing economies whose e-government implementations are in their initial stages.
