Abstract
Anti-guiding in ion-implanted VCSEL arrays has been investigated experimentally and described theoretically using a simple thermal and carrier model. By varying the separation between elements, it is possible to favor an in-phase mode. Implementation of the modeling methods described here could be useful for designing single-mode, in-phase laser arrays of arbitrary size.
