Abstract :
We have proposed a new technique to generate polarisation mode dispersion (PMD) with perfect Maxwellian statistics. This PMD emulator was composed of multiple variable differential group delay elements and polarization controllers. The simulation results show that this emulator could generate both the first- and second-order PMD with real fiber´s statistics at a fixed wavelength by using only three sections of DGD elements.
