  • Abstract
Adiabatically flared slab-coupled optical waveguide lasers (SCOWLs) at 1.06 μm wavelength have been studied, achieving a large fundamental mode and a 32% increase in COD power. Capabilities and limitations of the taper mechanism are discussed.
