Abstract :
The polarization fluctuation (PF) of a single-mode optical fiber output is discussed from the perspective of probability on the poincare sphere. The authors analyze the PF of the fiber from the point of view that the fiber has not only linear birefringence fluctuation but also circular birefringence fluctuation. The authors discuss PF theoretically by using the method of Imai and Matsumoto (1988). However, the results are more general since there are both linear and circular effects in an optical fiber
