Abstract :
This paper presents a method for market oriented reactive power expansion. In this method first ISO proposes some locations for reactive power expansion based on system requirements and operatorpsilas experiences. The investors determine the optimal locations for reactive power expansion by computing annual expansion profit of different candidates. Finally, the presented method is applied to 8-bus PJM power system to determine optimal amount and location for reactive power expansion.
