Abstract :
The purpose of this brief article is to point out some applications of results from multidimensional (m-D) circuit and systems theory to problems that lie outside the domain of traditional system theory. We will discuss how problems within the traditional areas of computer science and physics can be impacted by system theoretic results. In particular, we will consider applications in network reliability, and applications in statistical physics. No new results are reported, but the hope is that by establishing as yet little known connections all three problem domains (systems theory, computer science, and physics) will be benefitted from an exchange and cross-fertilization of ideas. In this vein, some generalizations of existing results are proposed and some speculations entertained.
