Abstract :
With the final date approaching when manufacturing industry has to justify its compliance with the introduction EMC legislation. There has been an increasing interest in conductive materials and coatings that can be used to electromagnetically screen plastic and composite components. The paper discusses the latest conductive material to enter this competitive arena and considers what is its true potential for EMC screening. This material, an intrinsically conductive polymer, could be the best screening material currently available, but due to its past history of instability, it is taking considerable time to fulfil its potential
