Abstract :
We demonstrate superior performance of a two-pump amplifier with respect to the state of the art EDFA in a low-input-power regime for the first time. A parametric amplifier with 50dB gain outperforms the EDFA by 1.5dB at FEC threshold level for a 10.7-Gb/s DPSK format.
