Abstract
The article is intend to increase the understanding for the concept of wave impedance and the conditions for its use when calculating shielding effectiveness. The article also examines the reason for the violation of reciprocity, resulting from an altogether uncritical application of Schelkunoff´s transmission line theory of shielding to fundamentally important geometries, the infinite plane and the spherical shield
