Abstract :
P2P model has opened many new avenues for research and applications within the field of distributed computation, so performance evaluation is unavoidable. But there are so few analyses of this, as most of evaluations are focus on the complexity analyses and simulations. The open source of JXTA project provides a platform for the P2P applications. In this paper, we perform a performance evaluation test of the three communication layers (Endpoint, Pipe, and JXTA Socket), compare them with Java Socket, analysis the advantages and disadvantages of the three communication mechanisms and give some valuable suggestions of applications based on JXTA.
