Abstract :
The application of an edge heater in the hot strip milling process will compensate the heat loss at the edge of the strip and thus reduces bead defect and improves the over-all quality of the strip. In this paper, we provide a 3-D model of both the edge heater and the strip, and corresponding numerical results based on the finite-element analysis. The result validates the effectiveness and efficiency of the edge heater and could be used for design optimizations of the edge heater.
