Abstract :
This paper deals with the relationship between system design, reliability and dependent failure. A hierarchical multi-level system model is developed to characterize system design mapping from the functional domain to the physical domain. Based on this modeling framework, the reliability and cost of reliability are linked to system functions, design structures and dependent failures. The evaluation method for analyzing product system designs from a reliability perspective is proposed
