Abstract :
Phase array systems can be found in military radar, satellite communications, space-time adaptive communications, and MIMO systems. As hardware capabilities increase, it will become feasible to implement MIMO communication systems, which will push further towards the Shannon Channel Capacity. This paper presents a comparison of standard beam formations, active impedance and experimental results using microstrip and dipole antenna arrays. It then discusses plausible correction techniques for a mutual coupling corrective network, scan blindness, higher order models, and optimization techniques for finding the coupling coefficients. The operating frequency was chosen to be 2.425 GHz for applications in Wi-Fi system development.
