Analysis of large-scale optical fiber characterization data collected on a carrier network

Optical fibers in the network are measured for a variety of parameters at different times in their lifetime. There are large numbers of fiber and hence large amounts of data that typically is archived. This paper describes efforts to data-mine this information, and focuses on optical splices and fiber losses.
