Abstract :
A contact-type image sensor, ALPHA (active linear photodiode array), which, although adopting simple fabrication technology, attains performance comparable to that of change coupled device (CCD) image sensor, is described. Inline arrangement of eight sensor chips realizes a reading length of 216 mm by resolution of 8 pixels/mm. Deviation of DC offset of voltage pickup circuits provided at each pixel, an inherent problem in this type of sensor, is corrected by a simple clamping circuit
