Abstract :
Urinary tract stones are small and hard aggregations that are formed in one or both kidney(s) and are sometimes transferred to the ureters (thin muscular tubes that convey urine from kidneys to urinary bladder). The size of urinary tract stone varies from the size of a grain of gravel to the size of a golf ball. Urinary tract stones may be single or multiple. When these stones move in the ureter, they cause severe pain. An assessment method for diagnosis of urinary tract stones in suspected patients is X-ray imaging. In this paper the radiography method is discussed, and then image processing with the aid of median filter is used to provide a fast and accurate method for the diagnosis of stones in X-ray films.
