Abstract :
The transient characteristics of surviving channel in L-band erbium-doped fiber amplifiers with 2 staged gain medium are measured when switched off and on the powers of 11, 21, 26, and 30 channels out of 31 WDM channels. It is found that the power excursions and the transient effects of a surviving channel in a same channel loading conditions grow up as the surviving channel shift to the longer wavelength and the required pump control speed should be determined at the shortest wavelength of L-band.
