Abstract
The Scenario-based Engineering Process (SEP) is a new method for software product development where scenarios are used to more efficiently and effectively design systems with large or complex decision support domains. SEP reduces development time and increases adaptability for change by using task descriptions as a direct informational link throughout the design process. Task analysis databases are generated from the scenarios and governed by semantic organizational principles which allows intelligent search techniques. The paper reviews a Defense Advanced Research Project Agency project that developed SEP methodologies used to develop a producibility decision support system
