Abstract :
This study was designed to investigate emotional intelligence (EI) characteristics of undergraduate students majoring in information technology and management. It was hypothesized that significant differences existed between EI profiles of information technology students and students majoring in business administration and tourism management. Three-hundred and seventy-three students (with 178 in information technology/information management and 195 in business administration/tourism management) were selected as participants of this research. The survey used to conduct this study was Dr. Nelson and Dr. Lowpsilas-College Version. ANOVAs were used to determine different EI characteristics of undergraduate students in the two sample groups. Results of the research project have practical implications of incorporating EI into IT professional development and training program.
