Abstract :
The multi-band orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (MB-OFDM) scheme is a promising candidate proposal for the high rate ultra-wideband (UWB) wireless personal area networks (WPAN) (IEEE 802.15.3a) physical layer standard. Focusing on the system simulation and performance comparison between two different modulation techniques, we design a high rate MB-OFDM UWB system with convolutional code and run a complete simulation for such system. Simulation results show that QPSK modulation performs much better than 16QAM modulation and illustrate that the power consumption caused by inserting guard interval is about 1 dB. Especially, exploiting the convolutional code, the BER performance of MB-OFDM UWB system is improved greatly
