Abstract :
A multihop scheme to increase the uplink capacity of CDMA cellular systems is proposed in this paper. In such a system mobile nodes are divided into two groups: those who are close to base station can communicate with base station directly and those who are far away from base station use the first group as relays. Time slots are alternatively used by these two groups. We inspect the throughput of such a system by considering the multicell interference and compare it with that of single-hop CDMA system. We find significant throughput increase if the cell is splitted by a suitable splitting factor
