Abstract :
Among all the third generation (3G) mobile communication standards, the most salient feature of time division-synchronous code division multiple access (TD-SCDMA) system is uplink synchronization, which can lead the performance superior to other CDMA systems. However, perfect synchronization in real TD-SCDMA uplink is not possible due to time misalignment, which is the limit of the synchronization precision. A modeling method is introduced to analyze the effect of misalignment among the different users by means of uplink orthogonality factor (OF). Moreover, the performance difference between perfect and imperfect synchronization in TD-SCDMA uplink is evaluated mainly from the perspective of the outage of user
