Abstract :
Through analyzing the capacity of an MF-CDMA cellular communication network based on LEO satellite constellation, this paper gives some suggestions to develop mobile communications based on LEO satellites. According to the characteristics of MF-CDMA, possible co-channel interference is taken into account based on a comprehensive interference analysis model including the analysis of internal and external interference, which could be the main factor to limit the user capacity. This is because that the frequency resource appears to be quite limited while the satellite power is usually able to satisfy the requirement, moreover, controlling the downlink inter-channel interference is not so difficult. By assuming some crucial parameters combined with the practice of the Globalstar system, the number of the active channels and traffic capacity are estimated. The results indicate that the advantages of MF-CDMA are obvious and it can satisfy the expected traffic requirement
