Abstract
We have proposed and experimentally demonstrated a novel all-optical clock generation unit by a single SOA. Based on the cross-polarization modulation in the SOA, a push-pull-type quasi-sine static modulation curve with the maximum modulation depth of over 20 dBm was obtained. A 10 GHz CS clock signal was transformed from the conventional 5 GHz optical clock. The carrier suppression ratio of ∼35 dB was achieved, which showed a great potential for all-optical 3R regeneration of CS-RZ data.
