Abstract :
The paper proposes a virtual classroom platform based on text to visual speeches (TTVS). The platform uses a client-server structure. Unlike current speech-driven virtual classroom techniques, the platform provides textual communications among users to obtain high transmission speed and communication quality. Every user has his/her own avatar in the classroom. In each user end, received textual messages are synthesized into speeches and spoken by the avatar of one who sends the messages. Avatars can also express some typical human emotions and intentions through body languages and simple facial expressions, so that receivers understand messages impressively. Algorithms for controlling avatarpsilas movement based on body functions are proposed.
