Abstract :
We have implemented a simple and cost-effective OADM by using one 2×N multiplexer and N couplers. The result shows that the proposed OADM did not cause any significant power penalties. In addition, we found that the reflection from inside of the AWG caused substantial crosstalk comparable to the first-order crosstalk. Thus, the suppression of the first-order crosstalk (by placing optical isolators in the coupled fold-back paths) may not improve the performance of the proposed OADM.
