  • Abstract
Quality Function Deployment (QFD) is the tool we have selected to aid in the design, development and subsequent commercial manufacture of a lithium/thionyl chloride “D” cell for use in weapons applications. QFD is a structured methodology used to help assure that customer needs and expectations will be satisfied throughout the product life cycle. In this paper, we describe our application of QFD, some of the lessons learned, and what we expect to be the final product of this QFD exercise
