Abstract :
This paper proposes a dual-band dipole antenna, which has omni-directional radiation patterns at both bands. The antenna has a simple structure and a meandered strip. The strip has high impedance characteristic at higher band to block inverted current occurring and makes the higher band has omni-directional patterns; meanwhile, the strip maintains low impedance characteristic to affect nothing for lower band. In addition, the proposed antenna could cover the 2.4 GHz and 5.2 GHz WLAN bands. Since the proposed dual-band dipole antenna has sufficient bandwidth, good antenna gain level, and omni-directional patterns at both bands, the proposed antenna is especially suitable for application in the modern WLAN system.
