Abstract :
A new printed structure composed of a bow-tie dipole and a loop for achieving a directional antenna is proposed. The proposed antenna demonstrates that when an electric dipole and a magnetic dipole excited simultaneously, a directional radiation pattern can be obtained. The antenna operates at 2.4 GHz with an impedance bandwidth of 10%. It also attains a front-to-back ratio of 33 dB.
