Abstract :
The operation and application of CHARMS (characterization and modeling system), a system that allows multidimensional characterization and modeling of cells for accurate delay prediction of ASIC designs, are discussed. The CHARMS system consists of the programs AUTOCHAR, MODSYS, and GENLIB. Written in C and intended for use on a high-performance Unix workstation (e.g. a SUN 4/260 equipped with a local disk), each program uses commands from an input file coded in SPICE-like syntax to operate on cells specified in a table file
