Abstract :
This paper documents PVUSA´s costs associated with a utility-grade 500-kWp PV power system in Kerman, California, USA. Results are based on August 1991 through March 1993 actual costs, representing site development through PV system start-up, and April 1993 through June 1993 estimated costs associated with completing outstanding contractual items and system acceptance by PG&E. Costs in addition to the $9.00/Wp price for the turnkey PV system total $3.34/Wp , for a PVUSA Kerman cost of $12.34/Wp. As a PV grid-support application validation, PVUSA Kerman has research costs. If PVUSA Kerman were not a research project and if the site, schedule, and infrastructure were optimized, preliminary analysis indicates that the $3.34/Wp might have been reduced to around $2.20/Wp
