Abstract
Creep stresses have been obtained for a transversely isotropic thick-walled rotating circular cylinder under external pressure using Seth´s transition theory. From the numerical results obtained, it is seen that the stress due to rotation for cylinder made of transversely isotropic material with measure N = 1 is large as compared to cylinder made of isotropic material. It is concluded that cylinder made of isotropic material with measure N = 1 is on the safer side of the design as compared to cylinder made of transversely isotropic material with measures as N = 1, 3, 5.
