Abstract :
This paper introduces LMSM, a novel lightweight multi-source IP multicast protocol. After being aware of a specific source for a many-to-many group, the hosts, including the mobile ones, initiate their JOIN/REQS/LEAVE messages towards the source, and a hybrid multi-source-multi-receiver tree for multi-party group communication is formed. Non-LMSM routers are bypassed by tunnels, which eliminates the dependence on multicast-specific routing. Analyses show that LMSM is scalable and the host, even a mobile host, can take part in the group communication easily
