Abstract :
Fujitsu´s mass storage system, which uses a magnetic tape library and a magneto-optic disk, is described. An analysis is presented of their performance, and their future position in a storage hierarchy and various applications are outlined. The author predicts that the magnetic tape library will be a powerful backup system and that the magneto-optic disk will provide large-capacity database storage.<>
