Abstract :
One of the major problems due to protecting of power transformers is discrimination between inrush currents and single phase to ground faults currents. In this paper, a new method based on wavelet transform and correlation factors will be proposed. In the suggested method, a discrete wavelet transform has been used which its third step (d3) consists of information for the detection of discrimination. Also correlation factors have been utilized to make a comparison between the d3 of the inrush currents and the single phase to ground faults. The new method is approved by a simulation program running in MATLAB.
