Abstract
We consider the analysis of complex motion patterns. We propose a new analysis method consisting of two steps. The first step is based on mathematical morphology. It considers the 2D-region in which the pattern resides and yields a symbolic description, allowing for qualitative comparison and interpretation of patterns. This symbolic description can then be used in a second step for accurate measurement using curve fitting. The method can further be used for pattern decomposition. Results for an example application are presented
