  • Abstract
In this paper, a novel dual-polarized (DP) transceiver is proposed for multi-antenna broadcasting systems. In general, dual-polarized antenna systems provide a much better separation between channels than uni-polarized (UP) systems. However, the performance of these systems might be deteriorated by the crosstalk interference between the horizontal polarization(HP) and vertical polarization(VP). To resolve this problem, the proposed transceiver employs both layered space frequency block code (SFBC) and successive interference cancellation (SIC) technique for achieving transmit diversity and multiplexing gains simultaneously. Simulation result shows that the DP scheme has much better error performance than the UP scheme. In addition, the DP scheme improves the channel capacity more than 1.5 times comparing with the legacy system in highly correlated channels.
