Abstract :
The general dispersion relation for an electrically gyrotropic medium is derived in two different forms. It is shown that there exist two types of waves, type I and type II, in an electrically gyrotropic medium. The resonance and cut off conditions are obtained for the principle waves. Based on the results, the Clemmow-Mually-Allis (CMA) diagram is constructed. The CMA diagram is used to identify the frequency bands for which wave can propagate in each region given on this diagram. The results presented in this paper can be used in development of nonreciprocal devices and in ionospheric applications.
