Abstract :
During the evolution of the mobile network to 3G and 4G, network survivability has become an essential aspect of reliable communication services. With the increasingly urgent need for robust and reliable transport network, the issue of failure recovery in ASON network becomes very important. This paper proposes a fast path restoration approach to handle single-link failures in SDH-based ASON. The approach targets reducing the signaling transporting time and SDH cross-connect switching time to minimize the failure restoration time by adopting several schemes such as: pre-calculating and reserving restoration path and its resources, two-end initiation singling procedure, allocating and configuring SDH resources in the forward-direction signaling procedure, making the signaling and physical cross-connect switching in the intermediate node work in parallel. The succeeding theoretical analysis and performance comparisons show that the restoration time of the approached mechanism can be reduced successfully
