Abstract :
The Tilted-Ellipse representation of standing-wave patterns enables the extraction of the magnitudes and phases of the forward-, and backward-waves. The simulation is therefore equivalent to using an {N+2)-port Vector Network Analyzer as a range receiver. No physical prototype or model is required, and results are obtained in-time for array re-design. Frequency-stepping scans are fast and practical, as data-acquisitions are very fast. Therefore electronically-steered phased arrays can be tested in a practically-reasonable data-acquisitions time. Finally, there is no limitation on the system number of ports, and no electronic beam-steering controls need to be simulated.
