Abstract :
This work deals with the design of on-chip planar electromagnets that will be introduced into a microfluidic device as part of a DNA extraction system. Different geometries of planar electromagnets have been designed, fabricated and tested using SQUID, and a comparison between their magnetic fields is made. The magnetic fields generated by different electromagnets were also studied using both theoretical considerations and FEA (Finite Element Analysis) simulations. The analysis and results of SQUID measurements and magnetic field simulation related to the magnetic bead-cell composite separation ability will also be presented.
