Abstract :
Femto cell systems are promising to provide cost-effective high-bandwidth service in wireless cellular systems. However, co-channel operation with existing macro networks incurs co-channel interference and is technically challenging. In this paper, we propose a method which uses frequency reuse with pilot sensing to reduce cross-tier co-channel interference between macro cells and femto cells. Simulations were conducted to study the impact of femto cells on the macro cells regarding throughput and outage probability. The comparison results show that our proposed method can be a solution to deploy femto cell systems in macro networks.
